Jazz from Planet Flippo started its musical journey in Chicago in1992, with the name "Flippomusic Globaljazz." Since then, the band has traversed several artistic phrases and recorded six CDs of pianist / vocalist Dave Flippo's original compositions and arrangements.
A recent "Creative Catalyst" grant from the Illinois Arts Council will allow us to begin our 7th CD project in early 2025.

The band was created  a few years after Flippo's move to Chicago and his completion of a D.M.A in Music Composition / Theory at the U. of MI and a Masters at the Eastman School of Music.  The current repertoire includes music from the band's four stages: 1.) compositions exploring world-jazz fusion; 2) vocal pieces and a collection of setting of the Tao Te Ching -Tao Tunes; 3.) unique arrangements of songs from the 60's to the present; 4:) new contemporary jazz compositions with a wide range of styles, meters, and grooves and a continuation of arranging contemporary pieces.

The concert program the for the band would offer a blend of Flippo originals and arrangements of contemporary tunes.
